United Nations - Vienna
The United Nations Vienna hosted not one but two screenings of UnBroken on January 27th to mark International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. Huge thanks to the Permanent Mission of Israel to the UN in Vienna, the U.S. Mission Vienna and the United Nations Outreach Programme on the Holocaust for their cooperation and to the panelists:
Holocaust Survivor Dirk Adler, Senior Academic Advisor Dina Porat from Yad Vashem: World Holocaust Center, Jerusalem, and Doron Rabinovici, Board Member at the Center for Israel Studies Vienna
for the insightful discussion on the importance of #HolocaustRemembrance and #NoToHate for making this a reality. The Top Kino Cinema Ciné-ONU #Vienna event was greeted with applause and reverence for history. May we never forget.
6-CITY TOUR!
SJIFF + KPBS + FOX5
UnBroken had a fabulous screening in sunny SoCal over the weekend at the San Diego International Jewish Film Festival. Festivals simply wouldn't be what they are without the amazing staff, attendees and wonderful sponsors who help make it all happen.
Thank you, Heather Milne and KPBS for your sponsorship of UnBroken at SDIJFF. Your support means the world. Thank you to Chris Fink and Natasha Mulholland of the SDIJFF for being the organizational wizards behind our screening and my appearance on Fox 5 with Shally Zomorodi.
In the past week alone, UnBroken has screened in New York, Vienna, Los Angeles and San Diego. I even got to hang out with Actor & Comedian Tom Arnold in the Green Room at Fox 5 in San Diego who promises to attend one of our premieres in Encino! Which one will he come to??? The Alabama Holocaust Education Center in Birmingham, Alabama, followed by the Charlotte Jewish Film Festival in North Carolina rounds out our 6-city tour. We are so honored to meet each community.

WELCOME HOME - MORE HOSTAGES RELEASED!
Hugs, tears, and joyous returns continue as more Israeli hostages have been released from Gaza.
Welcome home Naama Levy (20), Liri Albag (19), Daniella Gilboa (20) and Karina Ariev (20) who were released on January 25th, and Arbel Yehoud (29), Agam Berger (19) and Gadi Moshe (80) who were released on January 30th and Ofer Kalderon, Keith Seigel & Yarden Bibas.
Knowing ten more sweet souls get to feel the warm embrace of friends and family is heartwarming, and we can only hope for the same for the remaining hostages.
REST IN PEACE COUSIN STEVE
It is with a heavy heart that I share Aunt Ruth's eldest son, cousin Steve Gilliana, died in his home on Wednesday, January 29th. Concurrently, Mom and I were at the Center for Jewish History, where, after our screening and to conclude the Q&A, I played my crystal singing bowl. Together the audience, Mom and I chanted the Sh'ma.
Hear O Israel, The Lord is our God, The Lord is One.
Born in 1957, Steve lived a rich life and practiced Christianity. He was a fierce advocate for UnBroken and The Weber Family Arts Foundation. Steve is survived by his beloved wife Lisa, two children, one grandchild, four siblings and dozens and dozens of cousins.
Steve and I were on opposite sides of the political spectrum and we had meaningful, civil conversations about deportation, refugees and borders. After we filmed the scene above, (click here to view a clip of Steve in UnBroken) he walked me to my car and spoke quite gently in my ear, "I get it."
May your memory forever be a blessing, "because we love each other!"
